OCEANIAN REPRESENTANT: 🇳🇨 Hienghène Sport (2019 OFC Champions League winners)
🇳🇨 Hienghène Sport lived a perfect season in 2019, winning OFC Champions League, Mobil Super Ligue and New Caledonian Cup. The continental title allowed them to play the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar.
In order to strengthen their squad, Hienghène signed with three foreign players. The team’s preparation began early, many weeks before the match against Al-Sadd. Hienghène Sport was the first team to arrive at Qatar, almost ten days before the most important match of team’s history.
Despite the 3-1 loss in the extra-time, the New Caledonian team came back home with heads up because they knew they had done their best. Local fans also recognized their effort and many people went to the airport to welcome and support the team’s delegation.
