Otto Kusunan departs from Hekari United

Hekari United fans recently celebrated the news released by Oceania Football Center that Nigel Dabinyaba and Raymond Gunemba are ready to join Hekari United after being free agent players for a period. The duo left Lae City and now they are back to Hekari – club both players already defended in the past. Now, there are not good news for the Red Army.

The defender Otto Kusunan decided to leave Hekari United. As former Hekari United player Shane Sakael, the player decided to turn his focus to work commitments, the same as Sakael did in the last season. These are the hard choices of a footballer in Papua New Guinea – now we have two examples of talented players that are forced to leave a top-team in the country in order to pursue a full-time job; not being able to share his duties between playing and working, as football can not give them enough for a living in the country.

The 27-year-old Kusunan already played two OFC Champions League editions for Hekari United; the player was called-up for Papua New Guinea national team but is still to debut for his country internationally.
