Experienced Ishmael Pole reinforces Dwellers in PNG Premier Soccer League; his first time for a Lae-based side

Ishmael Pole, the talented Papua New Guinea international goalkeeper, has embarked on a new chapter in his career as he joins a Lae-based team for the first time. Born and raised in Lae, Pole’s decision to represent his hometown in the PNG Premier Soccer League has generated much excitement among local fans.

Prior to this move, Pole had enjoyed a successful stint with Port Moresby-side Gulf Komara in the previous season. Pole is known for representing another prominent Port Moresby team, the formidable Hekari United, where he participated in the prestigious OFC Champions League and played in several seasons. Pole’s performances in the league highlighted his exceptional goalkeeping abilities and earned him recognition as one of the top goalkeepers in the region.

While Pole’s club success has been commendable, his international appearances for Papua New Guinea have been limited. He proudly represented his country in the 2019 Pacific Games held in Samoa, marking his sole appearance for the national team. Additionally, Pole was also part of the squad during the memorable 2016 OFC Nations Cup campaign, but he was not fielded in throught the tournament. Although Papua New Guinea narrowly lost to New Zealand in the grand final, this was a much celebrated campaign by the local football community.

Pole’s football journey has taken him beyond Papua New Guinea’s borders as well. He ventured overseas to play for the Fijian side Lautoka FC, showcasing his talent in an international setting. His experiences abroad have undoubtedly contributed to his growth as a player and provided him with valuable exposure to different playing styles and competitions.

With his debut for the team already behind him, Pole demonstrated his expertise between the goalposts in a resounding 3-1 victory against Madang FC last weekend. The fans in Lae have eagerly embraced their local hero, who brings a wealth of experience and skill to their beloved team.

As Pole continues his journey with Lae City Dwellers, both he and the team hold great aspirations for the future. His presence in the squad adds depth and stability to the defense, and his familiarity with the local conditions and football culture will undoubtedly prove advantageous. As he dons the Lae City Dwellers jersey, Ishmael Pole aims to make a lasting impact and contribute to the team’s pursuit of success in the PNG Premier Soccer League.
