Raphael Lea’i makes official debut for Adelaide City FC in Australia

Raphael Lea’i made his long-awaited return to club football with Adelaide City FC, marking his official debut in the NPL South Australia. The 20-year-old Solomon Islands international recently represented his national team at the OFC Nations Cup, where they had a disappointing campaign, bowing out at the group stage after defeats to Vanuatu and New Zealand.

Lea’i was introduced in the second half of Adelaide City’s 2-2 draw against Campbelltown, wearing the number 8 jersey. He entered the pitch at the 53rd minute, bringing fresh energy to his new team. Local sources report that the player is gradually adjusting to the team’s chemistry. Having been out of regular club football since his departure from Bosnian side Velež Mostar last year, Lea’i is expected to take some time to shake off the rust and find his form.

Adelaide City currently sits fifth on the ladder, and the addition of Lea’i is anticipated to bolster their campaign as the season progresses – looking for a spot in the league playoffs.
