Nadi adds overseas-based forward heading for Battle of Giants’ challenge

Calgary-based forward Ali Ajha Naseri has joined Nadi Football Association, arriving in Fiji this morning. The signing comes as a significant boost for the team, following a disappointing Fiji Fact campaign.

In a press release, Nadi Football Association expressed their relief and optimism about Naseri’s arrival: “Calgary, Canada based Ali Ajha Naseri flew into the country this morning to join Nadi Football Association which has brought immense relief and belief to the management who had been trying hard to secure his services after the dismal Fiji Fact campaign.”

Nadi’s head coach, Raj Dayal, who was also based in Canada, played a crucial role in facilitating Naseri’s transfer: “Coach Raj Dayal of Nadi was also based in Canada, who facilitated the process to bring the forward Naseri.”

Naseri, an Afghan national, is expected to make a significant impact on Nadi’s attack. “Ali who is of Afghan Nationality is a proven attacker and will add a lot of expertise to an area that Nadi has been needing improvement in. Coach, Raj Dayal, had identified Ali in Canada and trusts him to do the job for Nadi upfront.”

As the team prepares for the upcoming Battle of Giants (BOG) tournament, which starts next Friday, 26th July, against Lautoka, the coaches are focused on improving performance. “The Team is preparing and building well under the eyes of Coaches Raj and Asif and Nadi expects to improve on its performance from the Fiji Fact tournament.”

Nadi will face Lautoka, Navua, and Labasa in their group at the BOG.
