Navua’s Jackson Wale is over the moon after Solomon Islands’ extended squad call-up

Jackson Wale, the 23-year-old forward for Navua FC in Fiji, has been called up for the extended squad of the Solomon Islands national team. This marks Wale’s first call-up to the national team, even if it’s just for a training period.

Wale’s journey to this point has been marked by dedication and hard work. He was part of the Royals Academy program, which provided opportunities for trials, training, and playing periods in Europe, particularly in England. Wale spent time with the Stars Academy from 2019 to 2020, an experience he cherished. “It was an experience I enjoyed,” Wale reflected on his time in England.

Currently playing for Navua FC, Wale evaluated his experience in Fiji positively. “It is lovely. Always learning, different competition, different players, different game style. And being a big part of the team is something that motivates me,” he said. “I have been consistent and doing well. We, Navua, reached the Fiji FACT final and I played 90 minutes in every game. But like I said, always learning.”

Wale also mentioned his immediate plans, stating he would participate in the Battle of Giants tournament in Fiji for Navua before joining the Solomon Islands squad back in Honiara. “It was unexpected for me and also makes me feel happy and excited to be in the national team for the first time like this. It will help me to stay motivated and continue to do my best,” he expressed.

Wale’s ultimate ambition is to become a professional footballer, and this call-up to the national team is a significant step in his journey. His dedication to learning and consistent performance on the field make him a player to watch in the coming years.
