Leon Kofana misses Battle of Giants due to personal issues, Rewa FC grants temporary release

Leon Kofana, the talented defender from the Solomon Islands, has faced a challenging period recently. The player, who represents Rewa FC in Fiji, encountered personal problems that led him to consider stepping away from football altogether. The situation was disclosed by Oceania Football Center, highlighting the significant impact of his family issues.

While Kofana has been in the Solomon Islands, he has maintained his fitness by training with the Solomon Islands national team’s extended squad, which was recently issued by the local federation. Previously the start of the traning with the natioanl team, the defender also had sessions with Real Kakamora. Despite his absence, Rewa FC’s management has shown great understanding and support for Kofana during this difficult time.

Rewa FC president Nazeel Buksh spoke to Oceania Football Center, explaining the situation: “We gave him time off to be with his brother. He is supposed to come this weekend. He might not be in Battle of Giants but definitely in National League and InterDistrict Championship,” Buksh stated.

Kofana was listed for the prestigious Battle of Giants tournament in Fiji this past weekend but did not feature alongside his fellow Solomon Islanders, Stanton Alick and John Orobulu. The club has confirmed that Kofana’s return is expected soon, ensuring his readiness for upcoming competitions, including the National League and the InterDistrict Championship.
