Brian Kaltak helped his side Central Coast Mariners to qualify for the second time in a row for the A-League Grand Final as they surpassed Sydney FC after a 0-0 draw at home – the first leg away ended up in a 2-1 for Kaltak’s side.
During the match the Vanuatu national team captain had a superb defensive display to save his team from a goal that could send the match to extra-time:
Kaltak tried to save the ball, but it ended up going in. But if the experienced defender did not even try, the goal would not be dissalowed: Fabio Gomes, Sydney’s striker, was in offside position as Kaltak tried to quick react to save the ball – if the did not go the ball, the goal could be understood by the referee and VAR as not offside. At the end of the day, Kaltak saved Mariners once again and helped them seal their spot in the Grand Final next weekend against Melbourne Victory.
