Brian Kaltak and Central Coast Mariners celebrate the Premier’s Plate in A-League

In a rainy night in Gosford, Australia the Vanuatu superstar Brian Kaltak achieved one more key milestone in his exceptional football career. The central defender helped his side Central Coast Mariners to win the Premier’s Plate of the 2023/24 season, a feat the club did not achieve for 12 years. The plate is awarded to the top-placed side in the A-League regular season and the Mariners achieved so after a comfortable 2-0 win over Adelaide United – Jacob Farrel and Max Ballard scored the goals of the match.

Wellington Phoenix needed the Mariners to lose the game to get the plate for their first time ever, but they ended up as runners-up as Kaltak’s side efficiently beat Adelaide in a catch up match this Wednesday (01st May) due international commitments in the AFC Cup.

This is the second trophy for Kaltak in his professional career – the first was the famous A-League title last season after a resounding victory in the grand final. Now Kaltak has a chance to help his team to earn more two accolades this season; to defend the A-League title in the play-offs and as a possible first ever international trophy for Mariners in their run at AFC Cup that will finish this weekend in Oman against Lebanese champions Al-Ahed.
