Hekari United adds two Brazilian players heading for OFC Champions League

Hekari United, the reigning champions of Papua New Guinea and former OFC Champions League winners, have secured the signings of two Brazilian players, central defender Erick Joe and attacking midfielder Lucas Sousa, ahead of their OFC Champions League campaign. The arrival of these two imports is expected to provide a significant boost to the Men-In-Red as they prepare to compete in the prestigious tournament.

Both Erick and Lucas were warmly welcomed by the club’s owner and general manager, Vonnie Kapi Natto, as well as the coaching staff consisting of David Muta and Ericson Komeng upon their arrival. Erick brings valuable experience to the team, having previously played for Hekari and participated in the 2020 edition of the OFC Champions League held in Port Moresby.

Having played in regional divisions in Brazil, both players bring a wealth of talent and skill to Hekari United. Their presence is anticipated to enhance the quality of the team as they aim to make a mark in the upcoming tournament.

Hekari United is set to face tough competition in the OFC Champions League, with matches against Auckland City from New Zealand, Solomon Warriors from the Solomon Islands, and Rewa from Fiji lined up in the group stage. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on 15th May in Tahiti, and Hekari fans are eager to see how their new signings will contribute to the team’s success on the field.
