Raphael Lea’i and his team, FK Velež, secured a crucial 2-0 win over FK Borac in the m:tel Premier League on Monday, 1st April. Despite being subbed in only during injury time in the second half, the Solomon Islands’ star played his part in helping his team secure a valuable victory.
FK Velež now sits in fourth place in the league, just four points behind third-placed Sarajevo, who occupy the qualification zone for the UEFA Conference League. This win over second-placed FK Borac shows just how important it was for FK Velež to collect all three points.

The goals in the game were scored by Nermin Haskić and Nemanja Anđušić. With just four games left to play this season, FK Velež will be hoping to secure a spot in continental competitions.
Lea’i, who is only 19 years old and a recent signing, has been used sparingly by the FK Velež coaching staff. He has received little game time but it is understandable for a young player who is still adapting to a new team and league. Nonetheless, he continues to make an impact when called upon, and his potential is clear for all to see.
