Laugu United faced Kossa at Lawson Tama Stadium in the tenth matchweek of Telekom S-League – the national football league from the Solomon Islands – thinking about the possibility of getting closer to league leaders Henderson Eels.
Local star Gagame Feni opened the scoreboard for Laugu in the 30th minute after a nice pass by Augustine Samani. Kossa’s forward Ian Paia equalized in the second half by pushing the ball into the net after a cross from the left wing.

Things got worse for Kossa in the 85th minute when Lency Ruania saw the red card after fouling Atkin Kaua. Laugu’s head coach Paul Kakai took advantage of the situation: Jared Rongosulia left the pitch and Coleman Makau came from the bench for the final minutes of the contest.
Laugu put a lot of pressure on 10-men Kossa but they did not manage to find the net. At the final whistle, the score was an 1-1 draw that prevented Laugu from getting closer to league leaders Henderson Eels.
