Vanuatu’s national football team has accepted an invitation from the All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) to participate in the Intercontinental Cup 2023 tournament in India. The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 9 to 18 in Bhubaneswar, India, and will feature four teams, including Vanuatu, Lebanon, Mongolia, and host nation India.
The Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) is excited about the opportunity to participate in the Intercontinental Cup 2023 tournament, which will provide the national team with invaluable experience playing against non-OFC teams. This will be the first time that Vanuatu will be competing in the tournament, and the team is determined to make the most of the opportunity.

The Vanuatu national team has been preparing for the Pacific Games 2023, and the players are working hard to improve their skills and fitness towards the competition to be played by the end of this year. Recently, Vanuatu played three friendly matches in Fiji against the local national team and its U-20 side and also the Solomon Islands.
Vanuatu’s last match against a non-OFC team was in 2019, when they lost 6-0 to Indonesia in Jakarta. Since then, the national team has only faced OFC opposition, including taking part of the last edition of the Pacific Games hosted in Samoa – competition Vanuatu is preparing for as it will take place again this year in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
