Vanuatu United have officially announced the signing of Vanuatu international midfielder Claude Aru, adding another experienced and technically capable player to their growing squad ahead of the next OFC Pro League season.
Aru, 29, arrives after being part of the Galaxy FC group that competed in the 2026 OFC Men’s Champions League. He had already been seen training with Vanuatu United alongside several other Galaxy players earlier this month, but the club has now made his move official.
The central midfielder brings a strong mix of domestic, international and overseas experience. His previous clubs include Malampa Revivors, North Efate United and Ba FC in Fiji, while he has also been involved with Galaxy FC in recent continental football.
One of Aru’s most eye-catching recent moments came in Vanuatu United’s historic 3–2 friendly win over Central Coast Mariners in Port Vila. He scored a superb goal after being found by Bill Kaltack near the edge of the penalty area, driving his effort high into the corner. That performance gave supporters an early indication of the quality he can bring to the club.
Aru has represented Vanuatu across several age groups and was part of the country’s squad at the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in South Korea. He has also featured for the senior national team, including in recent international campaigns, and brings valuable experience of high-pressure football in Oceania.
His arrival continues a busy recruitment period for Vanuatu United. The club have already added Joe Moses and Jeffrey Tasso, while several other established Vanuatu players have joined the group. Aru’s signing is particularly important because of the balance he offers in midfield: he can carry the ball, connect play, compete physically and contribute in the final third.
For Vanuatu United, this is more than another squad addition. It is a move for a player with proven regional experience and the ability to make an immediate impact. With Aru now officially on board, the club’s new-look midfield is beginning to take shape.
