Ba Football Association has announced the immediate dismissal of head coach Ravinesh Kumar, bringing his tenure to an abrupt end despite guiding the Men in Black to four major titles during the 2026 Fijian football season.
The decision was confirmed on Sunday, 18 October, through an official statement signed by association president Praneel Dayal. According to the announcement, Ba’s Executive Committee decided to terminate Kumar’s contract with immediate effect, although no specific reason was provided for the decision.
The departure comes following one of the most successful campaigns in the club’s recent history. Under Kumar’s guidance, Ba won the Fiji FACT, Battle of the Giants, Inter-District Championship and Extra Premier League, completing a remarkable sequence of four consecutive titles.
Despite those achievements, the association has decided to move in a different direction ahead of the next campaign.
“The Association thanks Ravinesh for his commitment, hard work and contribution to Ba Football during his time with the club,” the official statement said.
“We acknowledge his efforts throughout the season and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Ba also emphasised its intention to build on the success achieved during the season, recognising the contribution of players, officials, supporters and other people involved with the association.
The decision is particularly striking considering the club’s dominance across Fiji’s major domestic competitions. Ba have traditionally been one of the country’s most successful football institutions, and their four-title campaign further strengthened that reputation.
However, the announcement did not explain the circumstances behind Kumar’s dismissal, leaving questions about why the association decided to part ways with its coach immediately after such a successful season.
No successor has been named. Ba Football Association stated that further information regarding the appointment of a new head coach would be communicated in due course.
Kumar’s departure leaves the club facing a managerial transition as it attempts to maintain the standards established during its remarkable 2026 campaign.
