The opening match of 2020 Telekom S-League’s eleventh matchweek was contested between Isabel United and Real Kakamora at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara – the capital of the Solomon Islands. In a well contested game, Isabel won their third game in a row to keep climbing the ladder.
Isabel United opened the scoreboard with an early goal to take the lead. Real Kakamora’s left back Primo Naitoro failed to intercept a long throw and the ball felt at Julius Suafa’s feet. He crossed the ball and goalkeeper Joel Nanago touched it. However, it was not enough to send the ball away and veteran striker Benjamin Totori pushed it into the net; 1-0.

Despite being ahead, Isabel’s head coach Gideon Omokirio had to deal with a problem as John Oge left the game after being knocked by the ball in the head. Tuita Maeobia came from the bench to replace him.
Both teams were working hard to find the net but it was only possible in the final minutes of the game. Alvin Ray extended Isabel’s lead in the 86th minute while Paul Hiri scored from the penalty spot for Real Kakamora in the stoppage time. At the final whistle, Isabel United won by 2-1.
Isabel are currently in the fourth position in the league with sixteen points in ten matches. On the other hand, Real Kakamora lost their second match in a row to remain in the eighth position with eleven points.
