Micah Lea’alafa debuts for Solomon Warriors

After 315 days, Micah Lea’alafa played an official football match again. The 29-year-old winger made his debut for Solomon Warriors against Marist FC in the thirteenth matchweek of 2020-21 Telekom S-League, the national football league from the Solomon Islands.

Lea’alafa came from the bench in the 83rd minute to replace Molis Junior Gagam. Although he only played a few minutes, he showed his quality and made the fans happy, as most of them came to Lawson Tama Stadium eager to see Micah playing again.

He had not played an official match since January 8, when his former team Maritzburg United faced SuperSport United in ABSA Premiership, the top tier league from South Africa. Lea’alafa left Maritzburg in February and since then he has been dedicated to helping the development of football in his home country.

Gagame Feni scores a hat-trick as Warriors beat Marist in Telekom S-League

Marist FC and Solomon Warriors clashed at Lawson Tama Stadium in the final match of the thirteenth matchweek of Telekom S-League, the national football league from the Solomon Islands, and the title holders confirmed their favouritism by beating their opponents in a match full of goals.

The first two goals of the contest were scored by Gagame Feni in the final minutes of the first half after nice assists by Vanuatu international John Alick and talented midfielder Molea Tigi. Warriors also found the net in the second time, and Haddis Aengari headed the ball into the net after a corner kick taken by Judd Molea in the 64th minute. A few minutes later, Jerry Donga passed the ball to Gagame Feni who dribbled a defender before scoring for the third time in the day.

Marist’s first goal was netted by Bobby Lesley in the 72nd minute after a great pass from Jerry Allen Junior in a beautiful counter-attack. They did not have a lot to celebrate as Alvin Hou scored Warriors’ fifth goal a few minute later.

Marist’s midfielder Alfia Aunga was fouled by Haddis Aengari inside the box and John Aeta scored from the penalty spot while Junior Rocky pushed the ball into the net after a nice play by Steward Toata in the stoppage time. At the final whistle, Warriors defeated Marist by 5-3.

This match brought a lot of excitement for Warriors’ fans as they could see Gagame Feni and Micah Lea’alafa back after joining the team in the mid-season transfer window. The title holders are currently in the fourth position in the league with 22 points while Marist are in tenth with nine points. Nadi’s midfielder Avinesh Suwamy back from injury and confirmed for Fiji FACT

After spending two months away from football due to an injury, Avinesh Suwamy is finally recovered and ready to help Nadi. The 34-year-old midfielder is confirmed is on the list of 22 players who will represent Nadi in Fiji FACT.

Suwamy got injured in a training session and he lost seven matches due to this injury. Now, the legendary midfielder is ready to help the Green Machine to fight for the title in the last tournament of the year.

Avinesh Suwamy is back from injury – Fiji FA

Suwamy is a key player in the team coached by Kamal Swamy. Despite being a midfielder, he is one of the top scorers of Nadi in the season, only behind striker Rusiate Matarerega. Nadi are drawn in Group B along with Lautoka, Navua and Suva.

The Vodafone Fiji FACT is going to be the last tournament of the current football season in Fiji. This will also be Nasinu’s last chance to play an elite championship until at least 2022, as they were relegated to Vodafone Senior League after finishing eighth in the Premier League.

Despite the relegation, the team coached by Tagi Vonolagi is focused on the upcoming tournament, once they see 2020 Fiji FACT as an opportunity to make fans proud of them after a bad season. The Giant Killers are drawn in Group A along with Ba, Labasa and Rewa.

The most important football league from Tahiti reached its sixth week as six matches were contested last weekend in the French Territory. While AS Pirae were in a bye week, AS Dragon took this opportunity to reach the top of the table.

Hamilton Wanderers defeated Hawke’s Bay United by 3-0 at Bluewater Stadium in the opening matchweek of 2020-21 ISPS Handa Men’s Premiership, the most important football league from New Zealand.

One of the best players of the match was Tommy Semmy. The 26-year-old forward from Papua New Guinea delivered two assists and played an important role to help his side to grab their first three points in the season.

Semmy had two big opportunities to open the scoreboard for Wanderers: the first one was in the third minute of the game when he passed by an opponent and his shot found the external part of the net. The second, and no less dangerous, was in the 21st minute when his shot hit the post to scare Hawke’s Bay United players, fans and coaching staff.

The Papua New Guinean forward kept the good performance in the second half. In the 56th minute of the game, he received a pass from Josh Signey and he passed the ball back to Signey who scored Wanderers’ second goal of the day.

Semmy almost scored the third goal of this team in a counter-attack, but his shot passed a few centimeters away from the post. In the final minutes of the game, he delivered his second assist of the day by crossing the ball from the right wing to find Derek Tieku who scored Wanderers’ third and final goal of the contest. Honiara City and Kossa share the spoils in Telekom S-League

A late goal scored by Honiara City’s Clement Wasi prevented Kossa FC from winning three important points at Lawson Tama Stadium as both sides move even further away from the first positions in the league table.

The match had a clear set up in the first half: Honiara City with more ball possession while Kossa played vertically to reach the opposite box. The first goal of the match was scored by Himson Teleda in the 25th minute. He received a pass from Dunstan Quanafia to score from inside the six-yard-box to open the scoreboard for Kossa.

Honiara City’s head coach Jerry Allen tried to do something different in the second half, but nothing has changed compared to the first half. Augustine Ofai came from the bench in the 54th minute to replace Alick Solo in order to bring more dynamics to Honiara City.

Kossa still had more opportunities in the attack, but they failed to extend their lead, and their consecutive failed attempts were punished in the 83rd minute when Coleman Wasi equalized for Honiara City. At the final whistle, the score was an 1-1 draw.

Southern United win their second match in a row in Telekom S-League

Malaita Kingz and Southern United clashed at Lawson Tama Stadium in the thirteenth matchweek of 2020-21 Telekom S-League, the national football league from the Solomon Islands. As expected, Southern United beat Malaita Kingz without too much difficulty.

The first goal of the match was netted in the 40th minute when Prince Pue scored a beautiful free kick to put Southern United ahead. The second goal was scored by Kevin Fika in the 75th minute after a beautiful cross from the left wing by Pue.

Prince Pue was on fire and the 25-year-old left back scored his second goal of the day with an amazing shot from outside the box in the 82nd minute. Team captain Joachim Waroi scored a brace while youngster Alford Kanahanimae found the net once to seal Southern’s win by 6-0.

Southern won their second match in a row and they are currently in the seventh position in the league table with fifteen points while Malaita Kingz remain on bottom of the table with twelve losses in twelve matches. Injuries mark Auckland City’s clash against Eastern Suburbs in New Zealand

Auckland City and Eastern Suburbs clashed at Kiwitea Street in the first matchweek of 2020-21 ISPS Handa Men’s Premiership, the most important football league from New Zealand, and the Navy Blues grabbed three important points by beating their opponents by 1-0.

It was a special match for Mario Bilen who was playing his 150th match for Auckland City. However, he did not have much time to celebrate as he left the pitch with an ankle injury in the 12th minute. Bilen was not the only player who got injured in this match as his teammate Logan Rogerson also left the pitch due to a hamstring issue. Alfie Rogers and Andrew Blake also faced problems caused by head knocks in the game.

Eastern Suburbs also had to deal with injuries: Josh Rogerson left the game in the eighth minute with a shoulder injury while Adam Thomas was replaced by Robert Sabo in the second half due to a groin injury. Dan Edwards was another player who had problems after a collision with Auckland City’s Andrew Blake.

The Lilywhites had opportunities do equalize but they could not find the net, and Auckland City grabbed all three points from this match: “Three points was the most important thing but I think the way we performed especially in the second half after we made a few adjustments we managed to control things,” said Auckland City’s head coach Jose Figueira in a post match interview.

Galaxy’s new coaching staff debuts with a victory in Vanuatu

After lifting the VFF National Super League trophy for the first time in history, Galaxy FC announced changes in their coaching staff for 2020-21 PVFA Vodafone Premier League, the most important regional league from Vanuatu.

Legendary Moise Poida, who used to be the head coach, became Port Vila Football Association’s competition manager while Brazilian player Diego Máximo was appointed as the team’s new coach, with Nelson Sale Kilifa as his assistant coach: “I feel very happy with this new appointment, I want to thank the executives for trusting me,” said Diego in an interview with VFF Media.
